Christmas Music
The time of Christmas is always exciting, and it also means we can take out our old (and new!) Christmas decorations and Christmas music! Talk about your favorite Christmas songs and Christmas albums here.
My favorite Christmas song is "Oh Holy Night." It's such a beautiful song, and is also a little complicated, very high, and perfect for some one who can really belt or hit all the notes. ^_^ (I'm not exactly one of those people ) It is also has a beautiful melody, and sounds really awesome if you have a cello accompanying.
My favorite Christmas album varies for the most part, the first two to come to mind are Christmas with a Capital C by the Go Fish Guys, and Joy to the World by Steve Green. The Go Fish Guys are a "kids band," but I really enjoy them, and they also do a lot of acapella, which is really cool. And Steve Green is an amazing singer, and I really love his "Oh Holy Night Medley" and the Spanish song he does.
Your turn! What are your Christmas favorite songs/albums?

Re: Christmas Music
I love Christmas music, it's a huge part of why I love Christmas so much. I prefer classic songs from artists like Bing Crosby or Frank Sinatra
(mostly because a lot of modern Christmas music seems to be love songs). I'd say the only classic Christmas song I genuinely dislike is Oh Christmas Tree.

I just listened to it, it's very pretty!Countess wrote:Anyone ever heard "Haitian Noel?"

I can't stand Bing Crosby's songs either. So... false I think.

Re: Christmas Music
I used to play it on the piano every year until my teacher got sick of it and wouldn't let me play it anymore. =P
I think it's fine once around about more than that and it's just tiring.

Re: Christmas Music
*throws Blitz into a holly bush* Ho ho ho, merry Christmas!
I may have to Google Haitian noel.
I love all Christmas songs, all the more popular ones are a favorite. His Favorite Christmas Story, The First Noel, Silent Night, Away in a Manger, White Christmas, Last Christmas, Jingle Bell Rock, Mr. Grinch, even (especially) the Chipmunks Christmas song. My favorite is What Child is This? During Christmas, I want to hear absolutely no music that's not Christmas. That's what the entire rest of the year is for, you can live without it for a few weeks. I live for Christmas music during December.

*Comes out grouchy*
Even worse is when people start singing Christmas music a head of time. I do quite enjoy some Christmas music, if it actually has a point to it.

Re: Christmas Music
May I ask what makes you feel so negative about Christmas songs? I mostly agree with what PF said.
12 Days is a kinda fun song, but I notice that almost every arrangement of it changes keys multiple times..which usually means it's a dull song.
The Nutcracker and Handel's Messiah (which is somewhat Christmassy) are really amazing as well, and are played during the Christmas season. I've had "For unto us a Son is Born" stuck in my head all week.
