Christmas
Do you celebrate Christmas? Does Christmas have pagan origins?

Re: Christmas
I don't know about pagan origins. But I do know that today it barely has any pagan links, if any, so it seems like you're committing a logical fallacy to say that we shouldn't celebrate Christmas because of its supposed origins.

Did I say we shouldn't celebrate Christmas?

Re: Christmas
No. What I meant, but apparently didn't communicate very well, was that if you choose not to celebrate Christmas for its "pagan origins" it seems to me that you commit a logical fallacy.

Re: Christmas
So we commit a logical fallacy by refusing to celebrate something good that's been tainted by pagan?
So it's OK to practice witchcraft, if it's modernized, and run through a few decades, some of the obvious evil elements removed? Makes perfect sense.

Re: Christmas
You are completely misusing what I said.
Witchcraft is still evil, for obvious reasons. However, Christmas has changed from its supposed pagan roots to a celebration of Jesus's birth, not a celebration of Pagan God #72 or what have you.

Re: Christmas
Also Countess you still need to show how Christmas has pagan roots.

Re: Christmas
Nearly everything can be traced back to pagan origin or use. I mean technically then we shouldn't use trees, because they have been used for pagan practices. What is wrong with celebrating something different on the day that a pagan used to practice?

Re: Christmas
Can we please establish that there was some pagan holiday on the modern date of Christmas?

Re: Christmas
Except the dates are December 17th and 23rd....
And the other evidence is undermined by the article itself saying that "the date of Christmas was fixed at nine months after 25 March"
